GIG: LENNY & THE

After being opened by a boy band called 'Possie', the
Shoe-Goo martial arts dancers and a donut eating competition, Monash
University was certainly ready to rock. It was 37 degrees. People
watched in awe.
There was a crowd spanning from the water dunking chair
to the free sausage line as Lenny & The Gents took to the stage
clad in crazy monkey masks, weaving through giant walls of colourful
pyrotechnics.
The atmosphere was electric as the band opened with
their new pop single, "Prostitution". Lenny on guitar and
soulful, Nick Cave-esque vocals. His Gent, Dan on tambourine and backing
vocals. He continued with a line of top originals, highlighted by
an awesome cover of "Summer of '69". At this time, Lenny
quite wittily explained to the crowd that he got his first real 6
string back in the summer of '89.
As the final song drew to a close, amid shouts of 'we
love you Lenny' and flying womans panties, Lenny informed us that
there would be no encore. The crowd turned, they were stunned, someone
even threw a bottle. Lenny was escorted through the crowd on a giant
white horse and rode off into the sunset.
Certainly, gig of the year so far.
Thank you Lenny.
